Alma G. Fitts, 80, of 57 Fairview St. died January 24, 2003 in Lakes Region General Hospital. She was born in Fitzwilliam, NH on November 5, 1922, the daughter of Avlin and Mildred (Cass) Blunden and had resided in Laconia most of her life.
Besides being a full-time mother she had worked at the former W.T. Grant store and also worked as a waitress at several Weirs restaurants. She was the widow of Samuel J. Fitts Jr., who died in March 1988.
Mrs. Fitts loved camping at Shawtown/Ossipee for many years. She lovingly knitted and crocheted warm things for her grandchildren. She also loved working on jigsaw and crossword puzzles and always enjoyed a spirited game of Scrabble.
Family members include five daughters, Norma L. Freo, Gail A. Brace, Janet M. Carignan, Patty L. Charlton and Ginger J. Fitts, all of Laconia; three sons, Brian L. Fitts of Belmont, Calvin H. Fitts of New Durham and Jerry A. Fitts Sr. of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Avery of Haverhill MA; two brothers, Kenneth Blunden of Northfield and Robert Blunden; nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were in the Simoneau & Lambert Funeral Home, 139 Church St. on Sunday from 7 to 9 PM. A funeral ceremony was held in the funeral home on Monday at 10 AM. George Hankins-Hull officiated. Spring burial will be in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of NH, 10 Ferry St. Suite 419, Concord NH 03301. Timothy C. Molan and David L. Furber were the funeral directors.
