Obituary

WORCESTER-A. Frederick “Fred” Peck, 85, of Worcester, formerly of Pittsfield, died peacefully Sunday, January 13th, in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. His wife, Virginia (Smith) Peck, died in 1998. He leaves a daughter, Suzanne P. Noone and her husband Thomas F. Noone of Worcester; 2 granddaughters, Katy Elizabeth Noone and Alison Marie Noone, both of Brighton.

He was born in Pittsfield, the son of Allen and Catherine (Sunderman) Peck and graduated from Pittsfield High School. Mr. Peck was an auditor for the Berkshire Life Insurance Company for 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force veteran and was a longtime member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club. He volunteered for the Berkshire Humane Society and after moving to Worcester in 1998, volunteered at Fairlawn Rehabilitation Hospital. Mr. Peck was an avid golfer, fisherman and camper and loved animals.

The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of the UMass-Memorial Hospice and the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence for their kind care to Fred during his illness.

Calling hours are Wednesday, January 16th from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester. On Thursday, January 17th, a calling hour will be held from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East Street, Pittsfield, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery, Pittsfield. Contributions may be made to the UMass-Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln Street, Worcester, MA 01605 or the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
