Obituary

Ruby I (Holmes) Gianunzio, 81 of Whitman died peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, Sunday. She was the wife of the late Paris “Pat” Gianunzio. Born and brought up in Presque Isle, Me., she was the daughter of the late Harold and Annie o. (Ireland) Holmes. Ruby worked in Brockton as a housekeeper and at Waldo Market, helping her son Mike sell cars on Bedford Street in Whitman , Mikes Auto Sales. She was a devoted to her husband and family, great sense of humor, she loved to read, cook, bake for her family, doing puzzles, enjoyed making afghans and slippers, loved to sew, taking care of her daughters two poodles, Mouse & Bear , loved to sing old songs with her husband Pat. Ruby was a collector of roosters & elephants and musical novelties, animated stuffed animals. Ruby had a vegetable and beautiful flower gardens, she cultivated blueberries and was known as the Blueberry Lady of Whitman.

She is survived by her children; Paris Gianunzio, Jr. and his wife Patty of NH, Ann Reed and her husband Ken of Whitman, Pauline Gianunzio and her close companion Dennis LaCerda of Whitman, her daughter in law Kathy Gianunzio of Whitman, her brother Merle Holmes of CA., She was also the sister in law of Arthur Gianunzio, John Gianunzio and Anne Gable ;grandmother of Barbara and her husband Lowell, Bill and his wife Elizabeth, Patrick and his wife Kerri, Debra, Steven and his fiancée Jennifer, David, Kristina, Peter and his wife Pauline, Paulette and her husband Ian, Robbie, Adam and his wife Jennifer, Jami and Michael; great-grandmother of Collin, Bryan, Corienne, Kaia, Hayden, Liam, Mathew, Faith, and Aiden; also many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also the mother of the late Michael Gianunzio and sister of the late Frederick Holmes and Estelle Brasso.

Her services will be held on Thursday January 17th at 11:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street ( Rt.58 @ the Rotary Circle) Whitman. Burial will be at a later date in the Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman. Visiting hours Wednesday January 16th 4:00-7:00 P.M. .Donations may be made in her name to the, American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut Street, Brockton, MA. 02301 or Old Colony hospice, One Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368
