Worcester—Barbara L. (Berglund) Bergman, 85, died Saturday, January 12, 2008, at the Lutheran Home. Her husband of 64 years, Raymond H. Bergman, Sr., died in 2007. She leaves three sons, Raymond H. Bergman, Jr., of Holden, John L. Bergman of Hyannis, and Dana M. Bergman and his wife Irene, of Worcester; a brother, Karl R. Berglund of Brookfield; two sisters, Alice Ruffo of Worcester and Betty Bisnette of Tucson, AZ; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Leonard and Francis Berglund, and four sisters, Helen Bergman, Joyce Berglund, Gladys Landquist, and Nancee E. Dennis, preceded her in death.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Bror Helge Leonard and Thyra E. (Johnson) Berglund. Barbara was a graduate of Commerce High School. In addition to raising her family, she was an assistant librarian at Astra Pharmaceuticals for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in the community. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend.
A memorial service will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, 41 Whitmarsh Avenue, Worcester MA 01606 on Wed., Jan. 16 at 11:00 a.m. Burial of ashes in All Faiths Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street is directing arrangements. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Zion Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Home, 26 Harvard St., Worcester.
