Mrs. Eleftheria (Koufogazos) Grigoriou, 80, died Saturday January 12th at Saints Medical Center.
She was born October 26, 1928 in Pili Trikala, Greece a daughter of the late Nicholas and Sophia (Karametos) Koufogazos. Wife of forty-seven years to the late Stefanos Grigoriou who passed away June 8, 1999.
Mrs. Grigoriou married her late husband Stefanos in Greece. In 1968 they came to the United States settling in Lowell with their two sons. She worked as a stitcher in the clothing industry for over twenty years at Solomon Co.
She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lowell. Mrs. Grigoriou enjoyed being with her family and cooking pita.
She is survived by her two sons, James Grigoriou and Nicholas Grigoriou and his wife Katarina all of Lowell; two brothers, Timothy Koufogazos of Lowell, Dimitrios Koufogazos of Greece; a sister, Helen Panagos of Greece; four grandchildren, Stefano, Elle, Nicholas, and Christina; also many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister to the late Amalia Palantzas.
Friends will be received at the M.R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St. Lowell on Tuesday from 5 to 8p.m. Her funeral will take place from the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 9a.m. to be followed by a service at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Princeton Blvd. in Lowell at 10a.m. Interment to follow at Westlawn Cemetery II.
