Maria Clara (Madeira) Ferreira, 81, of New Bedford died January 23, 2003 at Hallmark Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was the wife of the late Americo G. "Mac" Ferreira, and daughter of the late Jose and Emilia (Bento) Madeira.
Mrs. Ferreira was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Mrs. Ferreira was formerly employed as a teacher's aide for several years at the John B. DeValles School, and had also been employed as a stitcher at Arista Textile Mill, Denmike Textile Mill and Elco Dress.
She was a volunteer at the Dartmouth Senior Center and St. Luke's Hospital, and was a former member of the United Women's Portuguese Club.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include 2 daughters, June E. Monteiro and her husband Robert, of South Dartmouth, and Jane M. DeFaria and her husband Henry, of Westport; a sister, Elaine Madeira of Dartmouth; 4 grandchildren, Rebecca Monteiro and Ryan Monteiro, both of South Dartmouth, and Matthew DeFaria and Katelin DeFaria, both of Westport; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Armindo Madeira and Joseph Madeira, Jr.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday, January 27th at 9:30 AM.Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10:30 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Visiting hours Saturday, January 25th from 4-8 PM.
Interment private.
