WORCESTER- John Elmer “Buppa” Bartelson, 90, of Worcester passed away Thursday, January 10 at Dodge Park Rest Home surrounded by his family.
His wife Agnes A. (O’Rourke) Bartelson passed away in 1999. He leaves three sons, Robert J. Bartelson and his wife Constance of Worcester with whom he lived with for seven years. John R. Bartelson and his wife Carol of Colorado Springs, CO, and Earl H. Bartelson and his wife June of Sutton. He leaves seven grandchildren, James Bartelson and Christine Beatty of Colorado, Jon Bartelson of Grafton, Sarah Bartelson of Connecticut, Gretchen, Heather and Brett Bartelson of Worcester, and three great grandchildren Austin and Kimberly Beatty of Colorado, and Dylan Loveless of Worcester.
He was born in West Rutland, VT the son of Carl C. and Tekla (Lindof) Bartelson. He graduated from Commerce High School. He was a WWII Army veteran. John worked as a draftsman at John Bath & Co. for 41 years retiring in 1981. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lourdes Church, VFW Post 3657, Disabled American Veterans and the Greendale Men’s Retirement Club. John enjoyed gardening, music, spending time on Cape Cod and spending time with his family and dog Bentley.
THE FUNERAL WILL BE POSTPONED TILL TUESDAY FROM LINDQUIST LUNDIN FUNERAL HOME, 36 BUTLER STREET with a Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1280 Grafton St. Interment will be in All Faiths Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday, January 13 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the UMass Memorial Hospice, 650 Lincoln St., Worcester, MA 01605.
