Fall River - Albertina B. (Costa) Santos, 86, of Westport passed away Thursday, January 10, 2008 at St. Anne’s Hospital after a short illness. She was the former wife of the late Manuel O. Santos.
Born in Westport, daughter of the late Manuel J. and Maria E. (Travassos) Costa, she was a lifelong resident of Westport. Prior to retirement, she was a health aide for various homes in the area. Mrs. Santos was a Communicant of St. John The Baptist Church, Westport. She was a member of the P.A.C.L. of Westport and the Holy Ghost Society of Westport.
Survivors include her companion: Joseph M. Gonsalves of Westport; a daughter: Bernadette Cook Correira and her husband Manuel of New Bedford; a brother: John J. Costa of Westport; 2 sisters: Adelaide Martin-Pacheco of Westport and Florida and Mary Medeiros of Westport; 3 grandchildren: Joseph “Butch” Cook, Jr., Robin Cook Silvia and Heather Cook Gonsalves; 8 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late Evelyn Reis, Alice Rego, Georgianna Pacheco, Beatrice Connors and George J. Costa.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from the Potter Funeral Home at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Church, Westport at 10:00 A.M.
Calling hours Monday 5 - 8 P.M.
Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
