Obituary

Sarah M. Riley, 87, passed away at the Winchester Hospital on January 7th, 2008. She was born in Boston on May 31st, 1920 to her parents John F. and Jane (Wade) Quigg. Sarah spent her early years in Charlestown, graduating from Charlestown High School in 1938. She has held several positions over the years including New England Regional Administrator and Project Administrator for General Electric in Lynn; Executive Assistant at the National Company in Malden; Administrative Assistant to Congressman Torby McDonald; Administrative Assistant at Massport. Later in life she continued her education and received her teaching degree from Salem State College. She then spent several years teaching business administration at Malden High School, retiring in 1980. She was a woman of great style and determination who was ahead of her time, loved her family and worked tirelessly to give them every opportunity in life. She will be dearly missed by everyone whose life she touched. Sarah is survived by her husband Edward P. Riley; her children; Regina Sarkozy and her husband Larry of Windham, NH; Jane Wade Riley of Swampscott; Edward P. Riley Jr. and his wife Maureen of Melrose; her grandchildren Jennifer, Larry, Meredith, Christopher, Douglas, Katelyn and Patrick; and her great grandchildren Alex, Megan, Trevor and Eloise. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her siblings John Quigg, Helen Morrissey, Jane Maisey and William Quigg. Funeral services will be held from the A.J. Breslin & Son Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden at Medford line on Friday January 11th at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10:30 AM. Relatives & friends are invited to attend. Services on Friday will conclude with interment in Forest Dale Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday January 10th from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to PBS, c/o WGBH, One Guest St., Boston, MA 02135.
