Worcester: Bernard G Sutherland 89 of Worcester died January 22nd in The Hospice Residence 10 Judith Road.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary (Bartosiewicz) Sutherland; three daughters Claudia Bratiotis of Millbury, Lois Kolofsky of Sutton and Joyce Regonini of Worcester. Two brothers Neil Sutherland of Oxford and Dean Sutherland of Worcester pre-deceased him. He also leaves nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Mr. Sutherland was born in Worcester a son of Gordon and Isabelle (Cartier) Sutherland. He was a graduate of the former High School of Commerce and The Banking Institute.
He was a longtime employee of the former Worcester County National Band and was an Assistant Vice president at the time of his retirement. He also served as an auditor for The Mass. State Banking Commission.
A longtime member of Saint Stephen's Parish he was active for many years in the Bishop's Fund Drive at the parish. An avid hunter and fisherman he served for many years as Secretary-Treasurer of the Worcester County Fish and Game Club and The Worcester County Sportsman's League. He enjoyed Baseball, Hockey, Camping, Ice Fishing and card playing.
The funeral will be held Friday January 24th from Henry-Dirsa Funeral Home 33 Ward Street (www.worcesterfuneral.com) with a Mass at 11am in Saint Stephen's Church 357 Grafton Street. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.There are no calling hours.
