Robert M. Carbone Sr., 68 of Medford died Monday in Mt. Auburn Hospital Cambridge, following a lengthy illness. He is the husband of Beverly (Zichella) Carbone with whom he shared more than 44 years of marriage.
Born in Cambridge, son of Philomena (Amendola) Antonellis of Needham and the late Michael W. Carbone, he is a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School class of 1957.
He began his banking career in 1956 at the age of 16 working in the bookkeeping department of Baybank/Harvard Trust Company. He has held positions as assistant security officer and as security officer in the community banking division. He was named Assistant Vice President and later Vice President of Staff Services throughout the many changes and acquisitions in the banking industry. In 1980 he was made a Vice President of Bank Of America where he remained until his retirement in 2007.
Mr. Carbone enjoyed spending time with his family, trips to Foxwoods and was known to be a huge Patriots fan.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a son Robert M. Carbone Jr., a daughter, Michelle Carbone, and a grandson Nikos Sneed all of Medford. He will be sadly missed by his beloved dog Angel.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home 306 Main Street Medford on Friday at 9 am. Followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 am. Visiting Hours Thursday 3-7 pm. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
