Obituary

AUBURN__ Antonina Ciecuria Slowik, 86, of Mystic, Connecticut, formerly of Auburn peacefully passed away to Heaven on Sunday January 6 surrounded by her loving daughters. Antonina was born June 12, 1921 in Lenarczyce, Poland, a daughter of Marianna (Zimolong) and Jozef Ciecuria. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Stanley Slowik in June 1972, and three angelic children, daughter Irene in 1967 and two sons at birth. During their marriage they founded and successfully established Ultra Hard Metals, a specialized engineering company in Worcester, after which she continued to operate through her retirement in 1989.

She leaves seven daughters, Christina Wrobel wife of Andrew Wrobel of Holden; Halina Brunell-Slowik of East Falmouth; Teresa Jean Slowik of Melfa, VA., Barbara Slowik of Shrewsbury; Dorothy Dulmaine wife of Gary Dulmaine of Grafton; Danuzia C. Knightingale of Brooklyn, New York; and Anne Marie Slowik of Mystic, CT., six grandchildren, Michael Brunell, Gregory Brunell, Julia Wrobel, Diana Wrobel, Ryan Dulmaine and Christian Dulmaine. Her brothers, Wincenty, Ignacy, and Stanislaw Ciecuria and a sister Wladyslawa Wrobel have all passed away.

Her love of family, gardening, dancing and travel encompassed her retirement years. Her spirit brought much light into many lives and will continue to shine through us.

The funeral will be Thursday January 10 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street, Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday, January 9, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. In honor of her love for children, in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA., 02114.
