Obituary

Bernard Lamarr "Buddy" Davis, 81, of Tifton died Monday, January 7, 2008, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Randall Gay will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ken Dillard, Bud Sumner, Burrell Sumner, Hollis Register, James Hester and Fred Hester. Paul Carpenter will serve as honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 8, 2008, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Mr. Davis was born on November 5, 1926 in West Palm Beach, Florida, but was raised in Fitzgerald. He was the son of George E. Davis and Rose Marie Paulk Davis Coleman, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one step-son, Larry Hudson; one step-daughter, Peggy Quintana; and one brother. He was the retired owner of Davis Body Shop and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was a Shriner.

Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. Rackley Davis of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brenda Davis of Pensacola, Florida; one step-son and step-daughter-in-law, Harry and Holly Hudson, Jr. of Duluth; one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Johnny McKenzie of Savannah; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Pat and Dick Troxel of Amelia Island; several grandchildren; and several step grandchildren.
