Methuen, Ma. - Donald G. Wakefield, 79, died Sunday at the Holy Family Hospital.
He was born in Lawrence the son of George and Agnes (Muller) Wakefield. In 1946 Mr. Wakefield graduated from Lawrence High School.
For many years Don had been employed as a meat cutter with the former Merrills Market then in Methuen Square, and was also an employee and friendly face at Robichauds Hardware Store in Methuen Square.
He was a communicant of Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen, and long time member of Methuen Council # 4027 Knights of Columbus.
Aside from everything else the most important thing in his life was his family.
The widower of Clarice J. (Chaff) Wakefield he is survived by two children Stephen N. & his wife Rita P. Wakefield of Maine, and Jane W. & her husband Stephen S. Dyer of New Hampshire, 4 grandchildren, Regina Downing, Kristen Wakefield, Amy Szymanski, & Adam Dyer, 4 greatgrandchildren Taylor Dyer, Nicholas Dyer, Samuel and Steven Szymanski, Don’s sister-in-law Maureen Chaff and very special nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday morning at 9 o’clock in Saint Monica’s Church.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc. 233 Lawrence Street in Methuen.
