Aida E. "Ida" Carpenito
...formerly of Tewksbury; 80
TEWKSBURY - Aida E. "Ida" (Zecchino) Carpenito, age 80, died Saturday night, January 5, at the Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley in Littleton, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Alfred F. Carpenito, who died in 1989.
She was born in East Boston on April 26, 1927, one of seven children of the late Antonio and Raffaella (D'Indio) Zecchino. She was raised in East Boston, but lived in Tewksbury the greater part of her life, where she was a communicant of St. William's Church.
She was described as having devoted her life to her husband and children, and especially, her grandchildren in her later years.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony C. Carpenito and his wife Rebecca (Kelly) of Leominster, Frederick L. Carpenito and his wife Leonor (Kurs) of Acton, with whom she resided until moving to the Life Care Center, and Thomas A. Carpenito and his wife Jen of Tewksbury; three sisters, Ann Scopa and her husband Paul of Melrose, Mary Gagliardi and her husband Angelo of Winthrop and Fla., Rose Gaeta of Revere; a brother, Dominic Zecchino and his wife Yolanda of Peabody; four grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Nicholas and Nina Carpenito; and many nieces and nephews.
She was also sister of the late Lena Micciche, and Anthony Zecchino.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 9, in St. William's Church, Tewksbury. Burial was in Tewksbury Cemetery. Memorials to the Dana Farber Cancer Center, Development office, Early Drug Development Center, 10 Brookline Place West, Floor 6, Brookline, MA 02445-9924, will be appreciated.
