Olin Swafford, 78, of Tifton died Saturday, January 5, 2008, at Golden Living Center. Funeral services will be heald at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 7, 2008, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Gary Minton will officiate with burial to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2008, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The family will be meeting at the home of Carol and Gail Swafford.
Mr. Swafford was born on December 16, 1929 in Irwinville and was the son of George Bilton Swafford and Emma Hobbs Swafford, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Swafford; two sisters; and one brother. He was a retired are car transporter and a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed playing the guitar before his health got so bad and had lived his last years in Tifton.
Mr. Swafford is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Laura Swafford; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Charles Hill, one brother and sister-in-law, Otis and Barbara Swafford of Griffin; one sister, Melba McMillan of Fitzgerald; and one brother-inlaw, James Rowland of Willacoochee. He is also survived by several step-children; a number of grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
