Obituary

LOWELL- Carmela (Oliver) Di Salvo, 87 years old, a longtime resident of Lowell, died Thursday evening, January 3rd, at the D’Youville Senior Center. She was the wife of the late James Di Salvo, who died in February of 1994.

She was born in Forge Village, on January 13, 1920, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Felice (Cirillo) Olivo. The family moved to Fitchburg in 1922, and then to North Chelmsford in 1934. She graduated from Chelmsford High School, in 1938.

Mrs. Di Salvo had been employed as a Secretary for the former Prince Macaroni Company in Lowell for 15 years and subsequently as a Clerk Typist for International Typing in Lowell, until her retirement in 1975. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church.

Surviving her are a son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Nancy Di Salvo, of Lowell, with whom she made her home; a daughter and son-in-law: Jacqueline and Paul Tarves, of Hudson, MA; four grandchildren: Sarah Hill, of Long Beach, CA; Paula Tarves, of Hudson, MA; Allison Di Salvo, of Lowell; and Jonathon Tarves, of Hudson, MA: two step-grandchildren: Jessie Tarves Liberis, and Jaclyn Tarves Mercier, both of Hudson, MA; also several nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Mary (Oliver) Ammendolia and Patrick Oliver.

Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 AM Tuesday, January 8th at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Lowell.
