Virdelle Day, 82, of Fitzgerald died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at the Fitzgerald Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Monday, January 7, 2008 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Waterloo Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Sunday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Day was born May 20, 1925 in Worth County, Georgia to the late William and Lois Holt Nasworthy. She had a love of sewing and was an avid listener of gospel music. She lived here in Fitzgerald for the past few years and was former resident of Rochelle.
Mrs. Day is survived by her children: Lutrelle Dailey of Perry, Grace Crosby of Cordele and George Day of Atlanta; Raymond Day and Barbara (Ronnie) Hancock both of Colquitt; Jody (Linette) Day of Donaldsonville; Fred Day, Eva (Jeff) May, Brenda (Johnny) Coleman, Geri (Walden) Fountain, and Teresa Day all of Fitzgerald; 30 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister Bertha Gentry of Irwinville; brothers Emmitt Nasworthy of Tifton, William Nasworthy of Florida, and Leroy Nasworthy of Atlanta. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Buddy Day and sons; Melvin Day and Vernon Day.
