WORCESTER-Albert F. Sandberg, Sr., 93, formerly of 7 Papineau Street, died Tuesday, January 21st in Hermitage Nursing Home. His wife of 64 years, Hilda C. (Lygdman) Sandberg died in 1996. He leaves three sons, Robert J. and John D. Sandberg, both of Worcester and Albert F. Sandberg, Jr. of Westboro; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces. Two brothers, Clarence and William Sandberg and a sister, Ida Clem predeceased him. He was born in Providence, RI, the son of Frank and Helma (Olson) Sandberg and has lived in Worcester for most of his life.
Mr. Sandberg was employed by the City of Worcester as a sign painter for 6 years, retiring in 1977. He was previously the superintendent of the paint department at Pullman Standard Company for many years and a self employed sign maker and painter.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 72 Cambridge Street, Worcester. O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, is handling the arrangements
