Catherine T.Steere, 78, of Snake Hill Road, an operator for AT&T before retiring in 1985 after 30 years, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of Harvey L. Steere.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Howard and Julia (Cummings) Carty. She had been a resident of Glocester since 1984 and previously lived in Providence.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a former member of Assumption Church of Providence.
She is survived by a son Howard W. Steere of Johnston, a daughter Maureen Girard of Glocester, a grandson, Christopher Girard, a brother Walter M. Carty of Narragansett and a sister, Margaret McLaughlin of Maine. She was the sister of the late William J. Carty, Bernice Lizotte, Martha Leech and Louise Parker.
Funeral to be held on Monday at 8:30 am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. A Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visitation Sunday 3-6pm.
