Laconia-Virginia Constance Poh, 91, of 15 Nutmeg Circle, The Ledges at the Taylor Community, died peacefully Friday morning, January 4, 2008 at Lakes Region General Hospital surrounded by her family.
Virginia was born in Queens, New York on December 23, 1916 where she was raised and schooled. She was the daughter of the late Timothy and Anna (Kukel) Gorodovich. She had been a resident of Laconia since 1993. Prior she had lived in Midddletown, New York for many years, and after retirement had lived in Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Prior to her retirement, Virginia was a Comptometer Operator for Playtogs, Inc. of Middletown, New York. She also worked for Sears Stores within inventory control, and Silver Cup Bakers in New York handling pricing and inventory. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
The last surviving child of her family, she is predeceased by her 8 siblings.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 64 years, Hermann A. Poh of Laconia; two sons, Timothy Poh and his wife Diane of Meredith, and Andrew Poh and his wife Holly of Woodstock, Connecticut; a daughter, Andrea Poh of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren, Nicholas and Georgianna Poh of Woodstock, Connecticut, Alexandra and Brendan Poh of Meredith, Tristan Poh of San Antonio, Texas, and Charissa McCarron of Phoenix, Arizona; one great grandchild, Danica McCarron of Phoenix, Arizona. Many nieces and nephews also survive Virginia.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, January 12, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, 50 Washington Street, Lakeport. Rev. George J. Soberick celebrated the mass. Private committal services for the family will be held at a later date in the spring at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Rte 3, Boscawen, NH. There are no visiting hours.
