Obituary

Numa “Momma Jean” Douglas Moore was welcomed into this world by her parents, Newman and Armelia Martin Douglas on June 22, 1929. Surrounded by her family and friends, Numa was called home to be with her Lord on the evening of January 1, 2008. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, James Martin and Etta L. James.

She confessed Christ and claimed Him her Lord and Savior early in life and joined Highland Baptist Church, where she served faithfully, until her health failed.

Numa was educated in the Huntsville City Schools System. She worked at Unisys for many years, until her retirement. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking and caring for them.

She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Patricia Moore Newby; a son, James Newman Moore (Amelia); six grandchildren: Rick Moore (Jan), Patrick Moore (Nicole), Cheryl Moore Davis (Garland), Cassandra Moore, Jeffrey Moore (Katrina), and Rodney Moore; twelve great grandchildren: Whitney Moore, Raven Moore, Aisha Stewart, DeAubreigh Stewart, Zachary Moore, Ryan Moore, Dana Moore, Thyra Moore, Katelyn Moore, Leinda Moore, Brittany Bass, and Tarrylon Woods: two great-great grandchildren: Amarion Moore and Eligah Stewart; one aunt, Lois Scott; godchildren: Reginald Hill and Chad Jasper; devoted friends: Ida Mae Williams, Anita Johnson, Daisy Mayes, Lucy Ford, Bertha Drake, and Mozella Davis along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Numa Jean Moore will be held Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 12:00 Noon from Saint Bartley P.B. Church with Rev. Cornell Martin officiating. Interment will be in Valhalla Memory Gardens. The remains will lie in state in the church one hour prior to funeral service.
