Obituary

Salem: Lawrence P. Cleary age 68 of Salem and a former resident of Lynn, died at home Tuesday, January 1, 2008, following a long illness. He was the husband of Louise D. (Simmons) Cleary with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late William and Marion (Promise) Cleary. He was employed by GTE Sylvania at the Boston Street plant for over 34 years, and was the former owner of the former Walfield’s Used Furniture and Antiques of Lynn. Married to Louise in 1988, he moved to Salem from Lynn. Larry was a member of the Bethlehem Lodge AF&AM now Mount Carmel, was past Commodore of the Volunteer Yacht Club of Lynn and a member of the Commodores’ Club of America.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: 4 sons: Mark Cleary and his wife Linda of Boxford, Scott Cleary of Colorado, Dan Cleary and his wife Christie of Colorado, Jeffrey Lima of Salem, a daughter, Diane Lima of Salem, 4 sisters: Stella Scourtas and her husband John of Florida, Rose Carrow and Elizabeth O’Brien both of Lynn, Nancy Harvey and her husband Gary of Nevada, 2 brothers: William Cleary and his wife Gerry of Virginia, Matthew Cleary of Lynn. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Daniel, Rebecca & Nathan Cleary all of Boxford, his mother-in-law, Antoinette Simmons of Salem and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral services on Saturday at 10:30 am in the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem. Visiting hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the North Shore, 10 Elm St., Danvers, MA 01923.
