Danvers: Gertrude (Guy) Driscoll age 81 died Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at the Hunt Nursing and Retirement Home following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born and raised in Salem, she was one of eighteen children of the late Isidore and Merilda (Pelletier) Guy. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was employed by GTE Sylvania in Danvers. Gert was a devoted mother and grandmother, who enjoyed spending time with her large extended family. Prior to her illness and after her retirement, she enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida.
Gert is survived by 3 daughters: Frances M. Nutting of Palm City, FL, Joan A. Bick and her husband Michael of Salem, Mary M. Sousa and her husband Robert of Stuart, FL, a son, Michael P. Driscoll of Palm City, FL, a brother, Richard J. Guy of Salem, 9 grandchildren: Bethany Martin, Allison & Shannon Nutting, Sean & Peter Bick, Matthew Driscoll, Taylor Benson, Alyssa & Robert Sousa, Jr. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by 9 brothers: George A., Bill, Roland J., Eugene, Leo, Gerard, Robert, Eugene ‘Bucky’, and Paul P. Guy, and 7 sisters: Lucy Fraser, Lillian G. Tessier, Rose D. Blais, Loretta Guy, Florence Cefalo, Cecile M. Beck and Irene Thompson.
Her funeral will be on Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 8 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, followed by her funeral mass in Ste. Anne Church, Jefferson Ave., Salem at 9 am. Visiting Hours: Friday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be private.
