In Taunton, January 1, 2008 John J. Sullivan Jr. died at Morton Hospital at the age of 83. John was the husband of Rita V. (O’Brien) Sullivan of Hewitt Ave. in Taunton. Born and raised in Medford, Ma. and a graduate of Medford High School, he was the son of the late John and Josephine (O’Connor) Sullivan Sr. John moved to Taunton in 1949 after graduating from Boston University were John was the head psychologist for Taunton State Hospital from 1949 to 1982 also was the first psychologist for Bristol County Mental Health Clinic in Taunton and Fall River. A WWII Veteran John served in the U.S. Army 13th Airborne Division the Screaming Eagles. John enjoyed playing hockey and softball in the Senior Leagues and golf. John was the father of Quentin Sullivan and his wife Sacha of Westport Ma, Deirdre Huband of Canterbury Ct., Kerry Sullivan of Sandwich, Kilian Sullivan-Silva and her husband Michael of Rehoboth and Kate Jacobsen and her husband Lloyd of New Bedford. He was the Grandfather of Fourteen Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Taunton on Saturday January 5th at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private.
