Ethel L. (Oliver) Cooper a lifelong resident of Medford, died at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Medford on December 31, 2007. She was 90 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on December 22, 1917, she was the beloved daughter of the late William C. and Florence (Bolles) Oliver. Ms. Cooper was a dental assistant for more than 40 years for J. Murray Gavel, DDS, in Boston. She was an active member of the Community Baptist Church of Medford, serving in the choir and was a Deaconess for Life at the church. She was also a Jr. Ladies Aid at Community Baptist. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening in her yard and baking.
She was the loving mother of David L. and his wife Marie Cooper of Tewksbury, R. Wayne and his partner Linn Haddad of Beverly and Claire L. and her husband Joseph W. Freda of Medford, devoted sister of William C. Oliver of Narragansett, R.I., cherished grandmother of Lisa and Robert Porter, Carrie, Kim Lori, Cheryl, Chad and Brian and also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her funeral service was celebrated in the Community Baptist Church, 470 Fulton Street, Medford, Friday at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours were in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday from 4 to 8 PM. Interment was be private.
