Obituary

PEABODY: Gregory L. Skalaban, age 16, died Sunday, December 30, 2007 at his home following a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Salem on March 7, 1991, he was the beloved son of John Gary and Janice L. (Grondin) Skalaban. He was a graduate of St. John the Baptist School in Peabody and attended Peabody Veterans Memorial High School.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three brothers, Jeffrey J. Skalaban, a student at Mass. College of Pharmacy, Andrew K. Skalaban, a student at New England Culinary Institute and Timothy G. Skalaban, a senior at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School, two uncles and aunts, Robert and Delores Skalaban of Dayton, NJ and Peter and Lynn Skalaban of Perkinsville, VT, godparents, Robert and Sharon Lemoine of Middleton and several cousins. He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Kenneth B. and Louise C. (Abate) Grondin, paternal grandparents, John and Virginia (Kozlowski) Skalaban and an aunt, Claudia Skalaban.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday in St. John the Baptist Church, Chestnut St., Peabody at 11 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Thursday in the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly from 3 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Jimmy Fund, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115 or to Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Rd., Casco, ME 04015 (www.campsunshine.org). Interment will be held in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, W. Peabody.
