New Bedford – Joao C. Borges, age 57 years, died unexpectedly, Monday, December 31, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the husband of Maria (Porto) Borges. Mr. Borges was the brother of Jose Borges of Canada, Manuel, Jeremias and Maria doCarmo Borges all of St. Michael, Azores. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Borges was a son of the late Antonio and Helena (Torres) Borges. He was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal and lived in this area for 32 years. Mr. Borges was formerly employed as a machine operator at AFC Cable Co. He was a member of the Our Lady of Angels Band.
Mr. Borges’ funeral is from the Perry Funeral Home, 111 Dartmouth St., on Thursday at 8 A.M. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 9 A.M. Burial will follow at Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours are on Wednesday from 6 - 9 P.M. Relatives and friends are invited.
