Reed, Robert Arnold, age 71, died peacefully at home while surrounded by family, on January 20, 2003. He was born in Ossipee, N.H. on October 28, 1931, a son, to the late Frank E. and Mildred (Whiting) Reed.
He has been a resident of Medford for 49 years and a communicant of St. Francis Church of Medford. Robert was active in the American Legion and enjoyed such pastimes as hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Mr. Reed was employed as a truck driver for 25 years and a member of the Teamsters Local 25 until his retirement in 1985. He was enlisted in the Marines during the Korean Conflict. He married his beloved wife Muriel A. (Springer) Reed of 49 years on November 14, 1953 at St. Cecelia’s Parish in Wolfboro, N.H.
His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford on Friday at 10:15AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Thursday from 4 to 7 PM. Interment, Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
Besides his beloved wife, Muriel A. (Springer) Reed, Robert is survived by three cherished children, Donna M. and her husband Steve Bosak of Medford, Susan R. and her husband Al Battistelli of Center Tuftonboro, N.H., and Robert “Bob” S. and his wife Karen M. Reed of Stoneham. He is the loving brother of Shirley Tarbell, Thelma Diltz, Joyce Bean, and Tom Reed, all of N.H. and the late Marion Pike. Robert is the grandfather of five, Lindsey, Chris, and Jennifer Bosak, and Robert and Lauren Reed. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
