Obituary






Dorothy E. (Weiby) Sullivan 85 years of Milton formerly of Brockton died Saturday at her home in Milton surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Maurice E. Sullivan. Dorothy was born in East Derry, NH a daughter of the late Birger and Elizabeth (Peterson) Weiby and was raised in Pembroke and Dorchester. She was a 1939 graduate of Dorchester High School and also graduated from Bryant & Stratton Secretarial School. When her children started school she began her career in the banking and financial fields. She was a pioneer with the introduction of Master Charge credit card. She had also worked as a customer service rep at Norfolk County Trust and Bay Bank. Dorothy was one of the original employees to work at Bradlees Westgate Mall, Brockton.

Dorothy had resided in Brockton and Milton before retiring to West Palm Beach, FL where she worked as a customer service rep at Sun Bank. She returned to Brockton 20 years ago living in both the Campello High Rise and Caffrey Towers where she had been an officer in both buildings. Dorothy organized trips for members of the high rise and it was stated that she kept the best books as treasurer of the building. In her free time she had enjoyed attending motorcycle events with her family, square dancing with the Singleton Swingers and quilting, crocheting and making clothes for her children. Dorothy was a volunteer for LIFE (Living Independently For Equality) in Brockton and was a member of the Parents Committee at Catherine Laboure School of Nursing. While living in Florida she was the President of the New England Club.

She survived by her six children Elizabeth A. Pariseau and her husband Harold of Brockton; Kathleen Mary Shluzas and her husband Robert of New Smyrna, FL; Nancy L. Murphy and her husband Brian of Milton; Margaret J. Ahern and her husband Brian of Bourne; Capt. Lawrence E. Sullivan, USAF and his wife Crystale stationed in England and Maureen C. Sullivan and Thomas Donovan of Quincy. She also leaves 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and was the grandmother of the late Michelle Pariseau and great grandmother of the late Daysha Pariseau. She is also survived by 2 brothers Richard Weiby and Robert Weiby both of Florida and many nieces and nephews and was the dear companion of the late Michael Ruccolo.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours will be Wednesday 4-8 pm. Donations in Dorothy’s name may be made to LIFE, Inc. PO Box 2356, Brockton, MA 02305 where she had spent many happy hours.
