Obituary

Vera Stone DeShazo, 103, of Fitzgerald died Sunday, December 30 at the Dorminy Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 2, at Bethlehem Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Wilson and Rev. Huey Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery, Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. DeShazo was born January 12, 1904 in Ben Hill County to the late William Jackson and Nancy Lou Carroll Stone. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. She worked at Robins Air Field during World War II and was a former resident of Macon.

Mrs. Deshazo is survived by her daughter-in-law: Jobyna S. Fuller of Fitzgerald; three sisters: Ethel S. Turner and Mavis Jackson, both of Fitzgerald, and Inez Knight of Bogart. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands: Samuel Day Fuller and Arthur Penn DeShazo; daughter: Virginia Fuller; son: Samuel “Sammy” D. Fuller, Jr.; five brothers: David Stone, Max L. Stone, Morris Stone, Delos Stone, Grady Stone; and three sisters: Elma Stone, Jewell Sigler, and Jackie Voelker.
