Obituary

Philomena E. “Phyllis” (Cervone) Picariello, a life-long Medford resident, died Saturday evening in the company of her loving family at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 93.

The daughter of the late John B. and Concetta (Vasta) Cervone, Phyllis was a life long Medford resident. She worked many years at Sears, Roebuck and Co. For over 25 years she worked at Tufts University as secretary to the Dean of Admissions. While she had many accomplishments in the workplace, her family was the true focus of her energy. Phyllis’ table was the place where everyone seemed to end-up. She loved the company of family and she loved to prepare and share meals for friends and family.


She was the beloved wife of the late Albert Picariello. She was the devoted mother of Albert Picariello and his wife Kathleen of West Yarmouth, Phyllis Meloni and her husband Robert of Medford. She was a loving grandmother to Katrina, Christopher and Nicholas. She was a dear sister to Leonard “Sugar” Cervone of Somerville, the late Mary DeVincent, Pasquale, Placido “Zip”, Theodore, John and Joseph Cervone. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Wednesday at 8 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High Street, Medford, at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Tuesday 3 - 7. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
