Alice A. Gallimore, 83 of Whitman died Friday December 28th at the Sachem Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in East Bridgewater after a period of failing health.
Born and brought up in Cambridge, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Isabel (Martinez) Gallimore.
Alice attended Cambridge schools and the Cambridge City School of Nursing. She was head nurse of the Cardiac Dept at South Shore Hospital before her retirement.
Alice has been a longtime resident of Whitman since 1950. She was a very caring person and enjoyed caring for others, because of her love for children she volunteered at her niece Diane’s child care center and also loved being godmother to all her nieces and nephews. She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. She was a member of the Church of the Advent in Boston.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters, John W Gallimore of Brookline, James B Gallimore of Weymouth , Isabelle Martinez of California, Anna Williams of East Bridgewater, Carol Lee Fongeallaz of Florida, and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late George, Alvin, Tyro and Patricia Gallimore.
Her services will be held on Friday January 4th at 10:30 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rt 58 @ the Rotary circle) Whitman, followed by a funeral mass in The Church of The Advent, Boston at 12:15 PM. Burial will follow in the Cedar Grove Cemetery, Boston. Visiting hours Thursday January 3rd 2-4 & 7-9.
