J. D. Gibbs, Jr., 49, of Ty Ty died Friday, December 28, 2007, at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2007 at Ty Ty Baptist Church. Rev. Donnie Wright will officiate with burial to follow in Ty Ty Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Laverne Harper, Dee Tucker, Ricky Wilkerson, Tony Cravey, Dennis Paramore and Mike Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Georgia Department of Transportation employees. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 30, 2007 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Gibbs was born on February 23, 1958 in Tift County and was the son of J. D. Gibbs, Sr. and Annie B. Lassiter Gibbs of Ty Ty. He was a maintenance engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation and a member of Pine Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife, Linda Rowell Gibbs of Ty Ty; five sons and four daughters-in-law, Jim David and Shonda Gibbs of Ty Ty, Jonathan Gibbs of Ty Ty, Bobby Joe, Jr. and Leslie Holley of South Carolina, Edgar and Tara Holley of North Carolina, and Gerald and Lyndsey Holley of Ty Ty; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jamie Pritchett of Ty Ty; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and James Naron of Arkansas, Linday and Jack Drawdy of Ty Ty, Judy and Donnie Drawdy of Ty Ty, and Doris and Gerald Ethridge of Ty Ty; and 13 grandchildren.
