Helen Connolly of Stoneham, formerly of Woburn and Wilmington, passed away early Wednesday morning, December 26, at the age of seventy-six. She was the mother of Marianne Connolly of Amherst.
Born in Woburn she was the daughter of the late Despinia (Tsagaropoulos) and Stephen Pappas.
She had fond memories of her childhood in the rag rock section of Woburn and she was very proud of her Greek heritage. She worked for many years at Altron of Wilmington where she was a quality control inspector until her retirement, she enjoyed driving and her long association with the Woburn Lodge of Moose. Helen loved her large family and enjoyed being with her daughter and granddaughter especially. She missed the company of her late twin sister Sophie Hamilton, they were inseparable.
Along with her daughter Marianne, she is survived by her granddaughter Naomi Keezing of Amherst. Her two sisters, Rita Caleshu of Falmouth and Virginia Zarella of Woburn and two brothers, George Pappas of Colorado and Robert Pappas of Woburn. She was the loving aunt to 42 nieces and nephews, 74 great-nieces and nephews, 21 great great nieces and nephews.
She was also predeceased by three brothers: the late Teddy, Jimmy and Peter Pappas.
Her funeral will be held from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St. Woburn on Monday, December 31, at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave. Woburn at 10 a.m.. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit at the funeral home on Sunday, December 30, from 4 thru 8 p.m.
