Richard J. (Vaitkevicius) Wood, 62, of Derry, NH, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 in the Parkland Medical Center in Derry. Richard was born in Worcester, MA on July 27, 1945, a son of the late Anthony and Louise (Back) Vaitkevicius. He was a resident of Derry for the past ten years, formerly living in Manchester, NH and Nashua, NH. Richard was a US Marine Corp Vietnam veteran serving from 1965 - 1969. He was employed by the National Parks Service in Lowell, MA, until he retired January 1, 2007. Richard was a member of the VFW in Londonderry, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and motorcycling.
He is survived by his mother-in-law, Beryl Bolton of Manchester; his sister-in-law, Mary Leclair and her husband Lenny of Chester, NH; two brother-in-laws, Robert Bolton of Danielson, CT, and Harry Bolton of Milford, NH; two nephews, Christopher Leclair, and Daniel Leclair; one niece, Lisa Leclair; and one grand niece, Avianna Leclair. He was predeceased by his wife, Catherine B. (Bolton) Wood in 1996.
Calling hours were held on Saturday, December 29th from 9 - 11am in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A funeral service followed at 11:00am in the funeral home. The burial will be in the Great Hill Cemetery in Chester in the spring.
