Celia Magliaro, of Boston’s North End, died Tuesday at Massachusetts General Hospital. She was 92.
Celia was born and raised in Boston’s North End. She lived there all her life. A member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, Celia worked as a skilled seamstress until she retired at age 65. Her sewing was of such good quality that her work was used as the designer sample for others to follow. Her employers even allowed her to offer her expertise to other companies. Celia was dedicated to her family and friends. Until the year 2000 she assisted her brother in the operation of La Contessa Patstries in Davis Sq., Somerville. Every weekend she went to work at the shop, fulfilling orders and making customers feel welcome.
She was the loving daughter of the late Pasquale and Mariuccia (Giannelli) Magliaro. She was a dear sister to Maria, Alfonso, Joseph, the late Anthony, Alfredo Magliaro and Lucia Casali. She was a devoted aunt to John Casali whom she raised as a son, and his wife Connie. Celia also leaves Maria, Dana, Traci and Janna who she cherished as granddaughters.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family Thursday evening 5 – 9 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
