Obituary

LOWELL- Kenneth J. Ryan, 56 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Monday, December 24th, at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, in Boston, after a long illness. He was the husband of Kelly (Bergeron) Ryan, who survives him, with whom he celebrated 20 years of marriage in May of this year.

He was born in Lowell, on December 9, 1951, a son of Barbara A. (Wojcik) Ryan, of Hudson, NH, and the late John F. Ryan. He was a graduate of Keith Academy and attended Marquette University and Northeastern University.

For over 23 years, Mr. Ryan was employed as a Corrections Officer at MCI Concord, until illness forced his retirement in 1999. Recently he had been a Security Guard at Tyngsboro High School.

He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and held membership in the Retired State, County, and Municipal Employees Association, and was a member at Long Meadow Golf Club. He was an avid sports fan of all sports, and served as a coach in Westford and Lowell in youth basketball and baseball.

Surviving him besides his wife and mother are three children: Christopher Ryan, of Westford; Kathryn Ryan, of Westford; and John F. Ryan, of Lowell; a sister and brother-in-law: Mary Gail and Tony DaCosta, of Hudson, NH; also several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 PM on Thursday, December 27th at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered on Friday, December 28th at 11 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
