Frances E. (King) McKenna 78, born in Boston daughter of the late Patrick J. and A. Mary (Smith) (King) Antonellis. She was the wife of the late Paul V. McKenna, Sr.
She lived in Wakefield, attended the Montrose Grammar School, before moving to Brewster, where she attended Orleans High, graduating in 1948.She attended the Long Island Hospital School of Practical Nurses graduating in the 1950.
Mrs. McKenna moved to Whitman in the 1960 and was a communicant of the Holy Ghost Church. She taught CCD classes for many years, was past prefect of the Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality, financial secretary of the Whitman Branch of the Catholic Woman’s Guild for two years, adult advisor to the C.Y.O., Liturgical Committee. When her children were members she was also a brownie leader for the Whitman Girls Scouts and active member of the Dyer School PTA. She WAS also president of the Homeland Park Civic Assoc., member of Ireland’s Own of Brockton, served on the first board of directors ,past president of the South Shore Irish American Society and at one time she had been a member of the Boston Police Emerald Society, in her early years she was a member of the Whitman Mother’s club, appearing in several of their shows, also the Whitman Democratic Town Committee, past member of the Plymouth county Democratic League .Mrs. McKenna had been a School Traffic Supervisor in the 1960’s, she worked as an L.P. N. for the Embassy House Nursing Home and 10 years in the Clerk’s office in the Plymouth County Superior Court in Brockton.
She leaves her children Karen A. (Phillips) McKenna, of Whitman, Paul V. McKenna, Jr., and his wife Rhonda of South Carolina her beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Phillips of Whitman, two brothers Patrick B. King of Stoughton, W. Joseph Antonellis of Weymouth, three sisters, Margaret Morganelli of Abington, Camella Berger of North Attleboro,and Agnes (Loretta) Marando of Foxboro, many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Mary T. Harney, Charles S. King and Rita F. Zaccone.
Her services will be held on Friday December 28th at 9:15 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc Plymouth Street (RT 58 @ the Rotary circle) Whitman, MA., followed by a 10:00 A.M. mass in the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman, MA. Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery, Whitman MA. Visiting hours Thursday December 27th 2- 4-7-9 P.M.
