Constance M. Bureau, 71 of Nashua, NH died December 22, 2007 at the Huntington of Nashua. Connie was born in Chicago, IL on August 18, 1936, the daughter of the late John and Sophia (Pacer) Wojtach. She had resided in Nashua for the past three years, formerly living in Derry, NH for more than 40 years. She received her BSN from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI where she met her husband Edward. Connie briefly practiced nursing in Ann Arbor and Chicago prior to her marriage in 1959. After moving to Derry, she continued nursing at the Bon Secours Hospital in Methuen, MA and the Alexander Eastman Hospital in Derry. Connie, a member of the La Leche League, taught Childbirth Education classes with the Derry Visiting Nurse Association for many years. She took pride that some of her later students were the children of parents she had previously taught.
Connie enjoyed gardening, she truly liked every flower, but was particularly proud of her roses. She was a past President of the Derry Garden Club and continued her activity with the club even after moving to Nashua. While living at the Huntington of Nashua, Connie was one of the original members of the Residence Council and served in several committees including Chair of the Outreach Committee. She also enjoyed traveling, especially cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. Connie will be greatly missed by her friends in Derry and at the Huntington of Nashua.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Edward D. Bureau II of Nashua; one son, Edward D. Bureau III and his wife Susan of Bedford; four daughters, Deborah LaFreniere and her husband Gary of N. Swanzey; Susan Rodriguez and her husband Imar of San Diego, CA; Nancy Bureau-Newman and her husband Forrest of Ft. Collins, CO; and Sarah Garvin and her husband Patrick of Derry. Connie also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, Hannah and Michael Bureau, Joelle LaFreniere, Camilla and Isabella Rodriguez and Zachary and Benjamin Garvin.
Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Friday, December 28, 2007 from 5 – 8pm at the Peabody Funeral Home, 15 Birch St., Derry. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 10:00am in the Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E. Dunstable Rd., Nashua. Burial will be at a later date in Rollinsford, NH.
