Eileen N. Kennedy, 85, of New Bedford died Sunday December 23, 2007 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John P. and Annie (Schelter) Kennedy, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.
Miss Kennedy was formerly employed as an assistant manager and merchandise coordinator for F.W. Woolworth Company at the North End store and the Dartmouth Mall store until her retirement.
She was a member of the St. James Seniors, the Mount Carmel Seniors, and the St. Vincent dePaul Society. She was a volunteer at the Solanus Casey Food Pantry. She was a transcriber for the blind for many years.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Castellina of New Bedford and Gertrude Crabtree of Dartmouth; a nephew, Stephen Castellina; a niece, Susan Rysz; three great-nieces, Katie Rysz, Kara Lynne Rysz, and Martha Castellina; and a great-nephew, Nicholas Castellina.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
