Obituary

LOWELL- Joan P. ‘Auntie’ Kelley, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Saturday morning, December 22nd, at her home in Lowell, after a brief illness.

She was the born in Lowell, a daughter of the late John J. and Margaret (Ryan) Kelley, and was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grammar School and Lowell High School.

For over 35 years she had been employed at Hanscom Air Force Base, in Bedford. Ms. Kelley was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and the former St. Peter’s Church, in Lowell. She held membership in the Prayer Group and the Women’s Guild at the Immaculate Conception Church.

Surviving her are two sisters and a brother-in-law: Mary (Kelley) Koller, of Lowell; and Jacqueline (Kelley) Dixon, and her husband Ernest Dixon, of Chelmsford; a niece: Beverly A. (McGowan) McDermott, of Lowell; her godchildren: Brian Koller, of Dracut; and Allison (Faggart) Marsden, of Wilmington; also many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was the sister of the late: Sally (Kelley) McGowan, Sister Joseph Margaret (Kelley), Francis J. Kelley, Allison (Kelley) Faggart, and Margaret Kelley.

Friends may call form 9 to 10 AM Thursday, December 27th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). Her Funeral Mass to follow at 11 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Monastery of St. Clare; P.O.
