Stella M. (McLeod) Barry, 99, died at the Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Tuesday, December 18. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Barry. Daughter of the late John and Bertha (Mullin) McLeod, she was born and educated in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada. Mrs. Barry was a direct descendant of Loyalists who founded the historic city of Saint John. She was a resident of Stoughton for the past 45 years after living in Hyde Park for 24 years. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Barry was Past President of the Stoughton Woman’s Club, (Mass. State Federation of Woman’s Clubs) and a member of the Southern District Presidents Club of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Massachusetts.
Mrs. Barry is survived by her daughter, Nancy M. Close of Westwood as well as 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert J. Barry and 6 brothers and sisters.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, December 27 at 8 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church, Stoughton at 9 AM. Visiting Hours Wed. 5-8 PM. Burial will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
