Ms. Georgia Metropolis, 90, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Thursday December 13 at Willow Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness.
She was born February 16, 1917 in Lowell, Massachusetts a daughter of the late James and Stavroula (Bilionis) Mitropoulos.
Ms. Mitropolis was a lifelong resident educated through the Lowell Schools.
She worked for many years as the executive secretary for Anton Cleaners up until her retirement. She was a member of the Transfiguration of Our Savior Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell.
She is survived by her brother and sister in law, Richard and MaryLou Mitropoulos of Dracut, a sister and brother in law, Carole and Chris Rodis of Boca Raton, Florida; a sister in law, Dyanne Mitropoulis of Chelmsford, a godson, Gregory Corbin of Holden, and many nieces and nephews. Ms. Metropolis was the sister to the late Mary, Charles, Lewis, Peter, and Bessie Metropolis.
Friends will be received at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church of Lowell Fr. Sarantos Way on Tuesday from 10am to 11am. A funeral service will begin at the Church at 11a.m. Interment to follow in Westlawn Cemetery.
