Sonageri, Walter, “Grandpa” 88, of New Milford died peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 22, 2007. Beloved husband of 52 years to Elena (nee Ghiorsi). Loving father of Jim and his wife Donna. Adored Grandpa of Alex and Christina. Brother of the late Eddie and George “Lefty” Sonageri.
Walter was a WW II Army Veteran. He was a builder and tile contractor who founded the New Milford Tile Company and the New Milford Building Corporation with his brother George. Walter was a life member of the New Milford Athletic Club and an avid hunter, golfer and poker player.
Family and friends are invited to visit Thursday from 7-9 PM and Friday from
2-4 and 7-9PM at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph’s RCC, Oradell. Interment will follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
