Rita C. Roy, age 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 19 at a local healthcare facility in Lowell after a long illness.
She was born in Lowell on March 1, 1926, the daughter of the late Joseph A.D. and Eva (Toupin) Roy. Rita was a lifelong resident of Lowell and a communicant of the former Notre Dame de Lourdes Parish where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality.
Prior to her retirement she was employed as a millworker with various mills in the Lowell area including the Appleton Mills. Rita was a member of the Sacred Heart Guard and was also an avid bowler.
She is survived by two sisters and a brother-in-law, Lorraine Fauvel of Nashua and Therese and Robert Benoit of Springfield, MA; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Rachel Roy of Pepperell; also many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late, Albert, Arthur, Raymond, Leo and David Roy, Irene Beland and Doris Roy.
Relatives and friends may call at the M. R. LAURIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 295 Pawtucket St., Lowell on Friday morning, Dec. 21 from 7:30 to 8:30am followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Rita's Church at 9:00am. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Chelmsford.
