Obituary

AUBURN-John J. Holup, 71, of Auburn, died Saturday, December 22nd in St. Vincent Hospital after being stricken ill. He leaves his wife, Deborah L. (Dawson) Holup; 3 sons, John J. Holup Jr. of New York, Matthew Holup of Auburn and Mark Holup of Worcester; 2 daughters, Jan Stephanos of Cherry Valley and Wendy Holup of Spencer; 3 step-sons Paul Beland of Colorado and Jimmy and Danny Beland of Worcester; a step-daughter, Tammie Meersman of Oxford; a sister, Sophie Schellbach of Dudley; many grandchildren; and his friend Gizmo. He was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas Hollup and 2 sisters, Rose Holup and Sophie McKinstry.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Harry and Pearl (Borowski) Holup and was a caretaker for the City of Worcester Parks Department for many years before retiring. Mr. Holup was a former member of the Polish Naturalization Independent Club and was a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Funeral services and burial will be scheduled at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester is directing arrangements.
