Obituary

WORCESTER-Steven A. Masterson, 85, formerly of Worcester, died Monday December 17th in the Newton-Wellesley Alzheimers Center, Wellesley. His first wife, Chesla (Bundy) Masterson died in 1994. His second wife, Wilma G. (Greenlaw) Masterson died in 2002. He leaves 2 daughters, Deborah C. Masterson of Cambridge and Tracy C. Masterson of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother, Dr. Thomas J. Masterson of Norwich, CT; 2 sisters, Dr. Esther McCabe of Storrs, CT and Judith Prunier of Oxford; and a granddaughter, Lindsey E. Danis of San Francisco, CA. A brother, Dr. James H. Masterson and a sister, Miriam Cofsky predeceased him.

He was born in Worcester, the son of Dr. James E. Masterson and Teresa C. (Wiesner) Masterson. Mr. Masterson was a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Boston College and had been employed by Magnavox for 40 years as a technical consultant. After retiring, he was a self employed military marketing consultant. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran who served in the medical combat division, 4th Army Field Hospital in the South Pacific. Mr. Masterson was an avid reader and loved animals.

A calling hour will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 28th followed by a funeral service in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
