Helen V.Murphy, 68, of Cortland Lane, died Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at Rhode Island Hospital,Providence. She was the wife of John F. Murphy.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Einar and Elsie (Allen) Swanson. She had lived in Smithfield since 1971. She had been a teller with RI Hospital Trust National Bank and Bank of Boston for 30 years, having worked 18 years in the Providence College office and 6 years in the Smithfield office retiring in 1996. She was an avid gourmet cook, and enjoyed traveling and cruising, knitting and sewing. She was an active member of Red Sox Nation. She had been a troop leader for the girl scouts and a former member of the Glocester Country Club.
Besides her husband, she leaves 2 daughters, Sally A. Cunningham of Coventry, CT and Karin M. Cunningham of North Providence, 3 grandchildren, Amy, Julie and Rachael, and a sister, Lora M. Hendrickson of Canterbury, CT.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 5th at 10am in the North Scituate Baptist Church, 619 West Greenville Road, North Scituate. Visitation respectfully omitted.
