FLORENCE DEMETRI MARCH 22, 1911 - JANUARY 18, 2003
Florence (Froso) Demetri was born in 1911 in Biddeford, Maine into a world that was very different from the one of today. She was never a very worldly woman anyway. She was not really interested in economics or politics or sports - well maybe the Red Sox. What she was interested in was her family. She adored Peter (Pandi) her husband of 64 years whose death she deeply mourned in 1994. She loved her four children unconditionally the way only a mother could and was proud of their successes and achievements. She cherished her eight grandchildren and loved to listen to stories of their antics and adventures as though she were a contemporary. When each of her nine great grandchildren was born, her heart overflowed with joy. Each one was her own special treasure. It is because of her that our family enjoys a connectedness that few families can claim. She taught us to love and accept each other not in spite of our eccentricities but because of them. But most of all, she taught us to smile even in the face of death. So, Froso, Ma, Grammy, Nana, we have said goodbye to your body but your spirit lives on in the twinkle we see in the eyes of your offspring. Thank you, thank you, thank you. We love you.
Her funeral service will be held in the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Funeral Home 60 Pleasant St. Woburn, on Wednesday, January 22, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend and may visit with the family at the funeral home on Teusday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with burial at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
It has been requested that expressions of sympathy be sent in Florence's memory to the Aberjona Nursing Home Entertainment Fund, c/o The Aberjona Nursing Center, 184 Swanton St. Winchester, MA 01890
